The 5th grade Wildcats played their first home game of the season last Wednesday night as they hunted the St. Marks Lions under the lights on the new turf at Ruffino Stadium at Bishop Lynch High School. The Wildcats jumped out to an early lead by blocking a punt and running it in for a touchdown. They added two more scores before halftime and grabbed a 19-6 lead at the end of the second quarter. They scored again in the third quarter and coasted to a 25-6 victory.
The 5th grade boys had a quick turnaround as they had another game on Sunday, the day after carnival. This marked their third game in seven days. The Wildcats got off to another lightening fast start by scoring twice in the first quarter and added another touchdown in the second. They scored again in the third and fourth and shut out the St. Monica Bearcats by the score of 34 to zilch. The defense played their best game of the young season and brought their record to a DPL leading 3-0. The 5th graders get a well deserved weekend off and play next on Wednesday the 29th at BL against St. Pats.
The 6th graders evened up their record at 1-1 by slaying the Crusaders of CKS by a score of 13-6. The 6th grade Wildcats battle St. Joseph next at BL on Sunday, Sept. 26th at high noon.
The varsity had the weekend of Carnival off but they take the field to battle the Crusaders of CKS at 5:30p on Wednesday. The game is at Crusader Field.
